Taught by Renowned Artists & Metalsmiths
Master classes offer two to seven days to explore and focus on developing specialized skills. Our classes are unique in that they offer two to four days workshops followed by an optional two to three day assisted studio time. This time allows you to apply and advance your skills with personal input from the instructor. These classes have a maximum of 12 students for ideal instructor/student interaction
Taught by Suzanne Williams
February 17-19, 2018 | $595
This class will explore how to integrate clasps and closures into jewelry design, and how form and function can be combined with innovative approaches to designing clasp and closure mechanisms. Expand your design horizons; combine form and function by rethinking clasps and closures for jewelry.
The clasp doesn’t have to be a separate thing isolated out-of-sight at the back ends of the chain. It can be part of the main attraction. Integrating clasp and closure mechanisms into the main attraction can create exciting and interesting new design solutions.
Taught by Andy Cooperman
June 22-25th 9-5 pm | $750
This is the only class of the type being offered in Colorado from Andy! In this 4 Day version of Surfaces we explore all sorts of surfaces--rolled, hammered, torched and layered--using everything from burs to corn husks and ingot molds. The goal is to develop a vocabulary of textures that can be replicated. We'll even build a brooch or small object from samples discovered in class.
Taught by Michael Good
November 2-4 2018 | $750
Each workshop is designed to accommodate up to 12 students. The studio time will be divided between lectures, demonstrations, and practice periods.
This intensive course will cover all aspects of Anticlastic Raising. Michael will lead students through a series of exercises that are designed to teach students the principles of the technique. Students will have a short time to practice each stage in order to digest the concepts presented before moving on to the next exercise. Students will design a piece of their own to work on throughout the class. The goal is for students to gain enough of a foundation in the session to be able to return to their own surroundings to practice at their leisure.
The classes are appropriate for all skill levels. It is not necessary to have any metalsmithing experience to enjoy the workshop, yet even master goldsmiths will find this workshop challenging, especially if they have not studied the technique previously. Those who have studied the technique before will definitely find this to be a unique experience and will be able to increase their skill and knowledge of the technique.
